Testimonials

Vicki is the most empathic, non-pretentious therapist I've ever had. She paid close attention to everything I was going through and really helped me get through the darkest days. EMDR worked so well and I think it was down to Vicki's understanding of my needs. I couldn't recommend her enough. Client, London

Remote therapy has been offered by the clinic for a number of years, but proved especially helpful during the recent pandemic. It is still the preference for most clients to be seen online due to the convenience it provides, so the clinic continues to work in this way.

The effectiveness of online treatment has been found to be equal to face-to-face therapy and all the same techniques are utilised. Many people enjoy the added benefit of not having to travel to a clinic and being seen from the comfort of their own home.

What Our Treatments Involve

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

CBT reduces the symptoms of psychological distress by targeting and reducing problematic physical symptoms, behaviours and thoughts/beliefs (cognitions) that are maintaining the problem, before helping the client to replace these with behaviours and thoughts that support wellbeing. CBT often involves psychoeducation about the problem as well as practical coping strategies to use beyond therapy.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a deep and powerful form of psychotherapy that aims to reduce the emotional distress caused by trauma and upsetting experiences to allow a person to move forward in their lives with better functioning by helping the brain to reprocess these adverse experiences. EMDR is also very effective in treating phobias, anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

Schema-Focused Therapy (SFT)

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Schema-Focused Therapy (SFT)

SFT is a psychotherapy designed to help with long-standing psychological problems such as personality disorders and chronic depression. It helps the client to understand how they view themselves, others and the world and highlights which unhelpful patterns are being repeated throughout their life that are contributing to psychological distress. This therapy helps the person to move away from unhealthy coping responses to help them meet their core emotional needs.

Behavioural Activation (BA)

Behavioural Family Therapy (BFT)

Schema-Focused Therapy (SFT)

There is a strong link between mood and activity. Therefore, BA helps a person identify the activities that are contributing to depression/low mood and supports them to engage in valued activities that promote improved mood. This is a graded and measured systemic approach and may involve reward planning and daily scheduling.

Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT)

Behavioural Family Therapy (BFT)

Behavioural Family Therapy (BFT)

TF-CBT uses all the aspects of standard CBT but with the focus of graded exposure to help clients reintegrate disturbing, unprocessed, memories of the trauma that are causing current psychological distress. The aim of TF-CBT is to help the person gain more control over their relationship with the trauma and to reduce the associated psychological pain.

Behavioural Family Therapy (BFT)

Behavioural Family Therapy (BFT)

Behavioural Family Therapy (BFT)

BFT recognises a family’s strengths and uses them to benefit all members within it. Families will be supported to better understand the ongoing problem/s before being assisted to improve family communication and problem-solving with the aim of reducing family distress. BFT has proven clinically effective in reducing marital distress and parenting difficulties.

Parenting Interventions

Parenting Interventions

Parenting Interventions

All parents struggle at times with their child’s behaviour. We offer parents and caregivers individualised sessions, tailored to their needs, on how to manage challenging childhood behaviour and feel more confident in their parenting role. Our approach is based on methods that will promote the child’s developmental needs while reducing the problematic behaviours.
